Sydney Spencer is a forgotten master and his writing about salmon, sea trout and worming for game fish still commands attention thirty years after he originally set pen to paper.

This reprint of two increasingly scarce originals is a good choice in that it showcases some of Spencer’s finest writing – not only did the man know a great deal about fishing, he was a master wordsmith and by gosh, he knows how to spin a good yarn. This addition brings a new foreword by Eddie Young and is attractively presented in a matching slipcase. The publisher has cunningly pitched volume at just below the cost of buying the first editions in good nick and it would make a good Christmas present for yourself.
