Darryl Grimason - Reading the Water: A Life Spent Fishing

The author should be well-known thanks to his engaging personality and work as a broadcaster with BBC Northern Ireland; this is his first book about fishing and while it doesn’t convey quite as much of his magical enthusiasm as it might, it is a good read nonetheless. The text is a mix of tales from the making of two television series, leavened with random thoughts about fishing, philosophy and family, all of which sit peculiarly well together, although by rights they shouldn’t. The fish in question range from trout and pike to conger and tuna, with some good tales about ferox. A good holiday read.
